Henri Cartier-Bresson | TUTTOINUNATTIMO: the monograph

For an university project we made an editorial product, the topic was a free choice.
I designed a monograph about Henri Cartier-Bresson, a french photographer pioneer of photo-journalism, nicknamed "The eye of the century".

Bresson's philosophy was really simple: all his works were about the research of the decisive moment in all his photos. As it is well described in his most famous book, "The decisive moment" (1952).
Proportions, dynamics and balance between blacks and whites: photos of Cartier-Bresson are based on spontaneity, the ability to seize the correct moment.
Cartier-Bresson in 1947 also founded, with Robert Capa, David Seymour, George Rodger and William Vandivert, the Magnum Photos, which will become the largest photo agency in the world.

In this book (I show here only the most interesting pages) i tried to tell the story of this photographer, with texts and photos summing his life and his principles. The title TUTTOINUNATTIMO (tutto in un attimo, in english "all in a moment") is the perfect summary of this incredible character.
“It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head."
“The picture is good or not from the moment it was caught in the camera.”
“For me, the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity.”
“Of course it’s all luck.”
Project made exclusively for universitary purposes.
